Restaurant Review: Bambino's Bistro (Auburn)

Restaurant: Bambino's Bistro (formerly Daddabbo's Pizza)
Location: 105 Genesee St., Auburn, NY

On Friday night, my husband and I were searching for a place to eat dinner when I thought of trying out Bambino's Bistro. I am so glad that we did! Our meal was delicious. They served us tasty rolls with butter. To start, we shared the Insalata Italiana (Chopped Arugula, Boston Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions) and it was very tasty. I then had the Penne alla Vodka ($8.95) and it was delicous. The portion was big enough for me to bring home leftovers for my lunch the next day. My husband had the Bifteak (French Burger - ground sirlion steak, tomatoes, iceberg, red onions, home made mayo & steak fries). He thought it was great!

Everything was fresh and delicious. The menu is very lengthy with tons of choices. They do not have their liquor license yet, so my husband was unable to get a glass of wine (I'm pregnant and not drinking anyway!). We were fine with drinking soda. :) A minor issue was that they gave me my leftovers in styrofoam...I just had to change it over to a glass bowl when we got home. I'm looking forward to going back there soon for lunch with my mom!

Takeout: Bambino's also offers takeout and we ordered food on Monday night. Again, the food did not disappoint. We had garlic knots with sauce, a house salad (mixed greens, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers) with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette, and the charcoal grilled Napolitana Pizza (sautéed spinach, white beans, black olives, capers and mozzarella). Delicious!

Restaurant Review: The Sunset

Review: The Sunset Restaurant - Auburn, NY

We had dinner on Saturday night at the Sunset Restaruant. We did not have reservations, but our party of six was seated within 15 minutes. Our waitress brought a huge basket of delicious bread. A few minutes later, a heaping plate of a very tasty pizza bread arrived. The generous bread portions, left no room for appetizers.

Dinners at the sunset usually include a salad and side item which is a nice change of pace when many restaurants make you order each item separately. My cracker-crumb topped baked scrod tasted fresh and delicious. My husband ate every last bite of his Chicken Sunset, a chicken and broccoli dish. Even though most of us were quite full, we had to try the desserts. The Coconut Cream Pie is a definite winner as is the Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae, though the brownie was a bit hard to cut through.

Outdoor Activities: Highland Park Golf Club

Highland Park Golf Club - Auburn, NY

My Husband and I played a round of golf at Highland Park Golf Club yesterday afternoon. It was a gorgeous day for golf in the Finger Lakes area. :)

The course reserves tee times for members on weekends before 1:00, but we were able to reserve a tee time shortly after. The course was very pretty and well-maintained. The staff and other golfers seemed very friendly which made us feel much more comfortable as new golfers who are still trying to learn the game. We only played the first 9 holes out of 18, and found each hole to be challenging but fun.

Moving Soon!

In just about 2 months my husband and I will be moving back to the Finger Lakes area. We are looking forward to it! We found a nice house to purchase that we are very excited about! It is cute and in a great location.

I've been thinking about how I want to use this blog. I'm hoping to post about upcoming events in the area, maybe review restaurants/shops, and possibly even create fun weekend guides. We'll see!

New Finger Lakes Blog

I am pretty new to the world of blogging. I have been living in the DC area for the past few years and there are plenty of blogs about upcoming events. When I tried to find something similar for the Finger Lakes area, I came up empty handed!

I am planning to move to the Finger Lakes region in about five months, so I wanted to get started with this blog to document fun things to do in the area, helpful resources and links, etc.
